Perth, Australia progressive death metal group XENOBIOTIC have premiered a guitar and bass play-through for their song “Insomnia” today. The track is from the band’s new album Mordrake which was released on February 21st, 2020 via Unique Leader.
XENOBIOTIC said of the video, “During our spare time in iso we decided to do a playthrough of the first song we wrote on Mordrake. This song is an important one, as being the first song written it really set the tone for the whole album.
“Insomnia” represents and portrays a story of utter confusion and distress. Being caught in a trance of physical and mental exhaustion brought on by emotional trauma. Insomnia is the prison within ones own mind.”
Mordrake, which Exclaim called “a must-listen record for fans looking for a tight, well-rounded work of modern progressive death metal” is the follow up to XENOBIOTIC‘s well received debut full length, Prometheus and sees the group delving further into the unrelentingly crushing technical brutality combined with sickening, ruinous atmospherics that has garnered them attention throughout the world. The new album is a calamitous, almost uncomfortably bleak listen. With Mordrake, XENOBIOTIC have proven that they are a limitlessly extreme band and not for the feint of heart.
The 11 track album was recorded and mixed by Matthew Templeman (Make Them Suffer) with mastering by Simon Struthers at Forensic Audio. Artwork for the effort was done by Mariusz Lewandowski (Psycroptic, Bell Witch, Fuming Mouth).
