Various physical bundles of OBLIVION’s The Path Towards…  are currently available in our IndieMerch store. For digital orders, visit us at our BandCamp site.

On the eleven-track The Path Towards…, OBLIVION — featuring within its ranks vocalist/bassist Nick Vasallo (ex-Antagony), guitarists Ben Orum (All Shall Perish, ex-Antagony) and Ted O’Neill (ex-Alchemicon), and drummer Luis Martinez (ex-Antagony, ex-The Zenith Passage) —  has manifested a record that’s darker, heavier, and even more eclectic than their critically-adored debut, Call To Rise. Composed by Vasallo early this spring, the recordingboasts an all-star lineup of guest artists that includes Karl Sanders (Nile, guest songwriter), Eddie Hermida (Suicide Silence/All Shall Perish, guest vocals), Enrico H. Di Lorenzo (Hideous Divinity, guest vocals), and Carlos Saldana (Connoisseur, guest vocals). The album also marks Orum’s and Vasallo’s first time collaborating on music since Antagony’s debut in 2001. With precise and intricate guitar solo work by O’Neill and legendary performances by Martinez, OBLIVION forges ahead stronger than ever with The Path Towards…

“…technical as all hell and heavy as fuck…” — Metal Injection

“The songs are focused into brief spikes of brutality, lasting long enough to express themselves in no uncertain terms, but ending before they can develop any superfluous parts. It’s a credit to the songwriting skills of the band that they’ve managed to condense everything they want to say into thirty-five minutes of aural carnage. The Path Towards… has definitely been worth the wait.” — Wonderbox Metal

“…an excellent, content rich death metal record that deserves a spin or ten. It’s a dark and dissonant ode to extinction set on a universal, apocalyptic scale. It was easily worth the wait and gets better with every listen.” — The Circle Pit

“The overall tenure of The Path Towards… follows all the original formulaic necessities of traditional death metal, whilst simultaneously evolving the music into something much more experimental and almost symphonic in it’s arrangements – a testament to Vasallos abilities as an accomplished composer.” — Meta Nexus

Focused on crafting music to transcend time and genres, OBLIVION features a compelling lineup with internationally-acclaimed composer and Antagony founder Dr. Nick Vasallo on vocals and bass, All Shall Perish and Antagony founder Ben Orum on guitar, thrash metal veteran guitarist Ted O’Neill, and drum virtuoso Luis Martinez (formerly of The Zenith Passage), trained by renowned jazz funk musician Ndugu Chancler. Their songs are masterfully composed by Vasallo using material from all the band members. Each album is highly unified conceptually and musically. Their debut album, Called To Rise was crowned, “the must-own album of 2013,” by Metal Injection and a “progressive metal masterpiece,” by Sputnik Music, who furthered, “the band’s eleven song display of nothing more than pure aggression with more musical depth than many bands can find in their entire discography.”

The highly-anticipated follow-up to that critically-acclaimed masterpiece arises in the form of The Path Towards… Darker, heavier, and even more eclectic, The Path Towards… was composed by Vasallo early this spring and boasts an all-star lineup of guest artists that include Karl Sanders (Nile, guest songwriter), Eddie Hermida (Suicide Silence/All Shall Perish, guest vocals), Enrico H. Di Lorenzo (Hideous Divinity, guest vocals), and Carlos Saldana (Connoisseur, guest vocals). This album also marks the return of Ben Orum and Nick Vasallo collaborating on music since Antagony’s debut album in 2001. With precise and intricate guitar solo work by O’Neill and legendary performances by Martinez, OBLIVION forges ahead stronger than ever with The Path Towards…

The Path Towards… was recorded and engineered by Zack Ohren (Animosity, Suffocation, All Shall Perish, Cattle Decapitation, Fallujah et al) at Castle Ultimate Productions, features artwork by Daniel McBride (Black Label Society, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Chimera et al) and will see release on November 17th. Preorders will be available at IndieMerch in the coming days HERE.

In advance of its release and as part of their weekly Tech Death Tuesday premieres, Metal Injection is offering a first time listen of “Concrete Thrones” featuring Eddie Hermida (Suicide Silence, All Shall Perish). Issues Metal Injection of the track, “Similar to the band’s style of death metal on Called To Rise, the music on ‘Concrete Thrones’ is in the vein of Deeds Of Flesh and Suffocation heavy inspired forms of tech- death where gnarly, chunky riffs and frenetic spidery riffs intertwine and collide frequently with warped leads and maniacal blasting.”

Adds Orum, “Eddie Hermida is family. I have had the pleasure of working very closely with Eddie most of my musical career with All Shall Perish and consider him one of my best friends. When Nick and I showed Eddie the new OBLIVION material and he expressed interest in doing some guest vocals, I knew instantly we were going would produce some fire. Eddie has some of the best dynamics and range in the business, and I am super excited for everyone to hear his performance on these tracks!”

OBLIVION: “MECHANISTIC HOLLOW” VIDEO PREMIERE AT METAL INJECTION

Metal Injection premieres a new official video from OBLIVION entitled “Mechanistic Hollow” off their upcoming 11/17 release ‘The Path Towards’. Pre-order bundles available now.

The video for “Mechanistic Hollow” was shot by Matti Way (Disgorge, Pathology), and you can pre-order The Path Toward… here before its November 17 release date. The album will also feature guest vocal appearances from Eddie Hermida (Suicide Silence, All Shall Perish), Enrico H. Di Lorenzo (Hideous Divinity), and Carlos Saldana (Connoisseur), as well as some guest songwriting from Nile‘s Karl Sanders.

Focused on crafting music to transcend time and genres, OBLIVION features a compelling lineup with internationally-acclaimed composer and Antagony founder Dr. Nick Vasallo on vocals and bass, All Shall Perish and Antagony founder Ben Orum on guitar, thrash metal veteran guitarist Ted O’Neill, and drum virtuoso Luis Martinez, trained by renowned jazz funk musician Ndugu Chancler. Their songs are masterfully composed by Vasallo using material from all the band members. Each album is highly unified conceptually and musically. After Called To Rise came out OBLIVION guitarist Ted O’Neill traveled to South Carolina to spend some time learning from death metal icon Karl Sanders of Nile. “After a week of getting my face melted off I asked Karl if he would be interested in doing a guest spot on the next OBLIVION album,” recalls O’Neill. “I wanted to do something different though, something unique, not just the usual ‘guest solo’ spot. I wanted Karl to cowrite a song with us. I knew his immense talent would mesh uniquely with Vasallo’s mastery.”
Their debut album “Called to Rise”, was crowned “the must-own album of 2013,“ by Metal Injection, “the finest debut ever written,“ by Metal Archives and a “progressive metal masterpiece,” by Sputnik Music, who furthers, “the band’s eleven song display of nothing more than pure aggression with more musical depth than many bands can find in their entire discography.”

Four years later the band realizes that dream with Sanders cowriting and collaborating on the track “Awaiting Autochthon.” “Nick is like the Bruce Lee of avant garde metal composing,” says Sanders. “He is a madman! He is untouchable and from another planet, wildly innovative and creative.”

Oblivion is:

Nick Vasallo – vocals, guitar, bass
Ben Orum – guitar
Ted O’Neill – guitar
Luis Martinez – drums
