Manchester, UK based Worldwide Slam Kings INGESTED have released “Mouth of the Abyss”, the first single from their forthcoming new EP titled The Call of the Void, today at Exclaim who said of the track, “After opening with a hardcore-esque beatdown, the track chugs a bit before some frantic death metal riffing (atop blast beats, of course) that makes way for a subtle slam passage. Subtle ain’t exactly a glowing endorsement for a crushing riff, but it’s only used here because they bring it around later and make it as brutal as can be. A semi-melodic build up seems to be seeing the song out before they bring the opening back around.”
The Call of the Void is the follow up to the group’s massive and career defining fourth album The Level Above Human, and will see a June 14 release date via Unique Leader.
Recorded by Nico Beninato at Kimera Recordings in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, John Hinde at Futureworks Studios in Manchester, UK, and guitarist Sam Yates and mixed/mastered by Christian Donaldson at The Grid (Cryptopsy, Beneath the Massacre) in Montreal, QC, the effort contains 4 new atmospheric, dark, and riff heavy tracks that see the group expanding on their long standing vicious sound.
Drummer Lyn Jeffs commented on the release, “Our new EP isn’t just material for materials sake or a stop gap between albums, this is something we feel is an important evolution in our style and is a piece of music that will again transcend the genre of slam.
We feel immensely proud of The Call Of The Void, it is something we have worked hard on to develop while on the road so much of 2018. It is darker, riff-heavy and atmospheric but still has all the ingredients that make Ingested what it is.
To celebrate the release we are coming back to Europe on a short tour with our friends Within Destruction on select dates. We are excited for you guys to hear The Call Of The Void both on record and Live.”
Following their upcoming trek with Cryptopsy, INGESTED will hit the road alongside label mates Within Destruction on an album release tour which will cover a large portion of Central Europe and sees the group performing a number of festivals including Slamavaria, Death Coffee Party, and Tynecky Mazec Festival.
